7 Ways to Promote Acne Scar Healing

Acne scars can be very unsightly especially if they are the result of severe cases of infection and deep scarring. Some of the worst acne scars show proof of tissue damage and broken skin, resulting in an uneven skin surface and spotty skin tone. The appearance of scars may be blamed on elastin and collagen, more specifically, on their improper deposition underneath the skin. Scars are also the result of an inadequate healing process. If healing is not encouraged immediately and properly, more problematic scars may appear. If you have had a bout of acne, one of the very first things you must ensure aside from treatment of the infection is to promote healing. This is the critical stage that determines whether or not the future result of the damage is mild or severe. Here’s how you can ensure that your acne scars heal properly:

1.	Touch Less, Heal More

Acne tends to be a chronic disease so it’s important that you understand how it is treated to prevent further aggravation and break outs. When pimples begin to appear, resist the urge to touch, squeeze or prick. Bringing your hands to your face or any part of your body affected by acne will increase your chances of getting an infection, even if your hands are clean. Furthermore, frequently touching the affected area of the skin will irritate the skin, delaying healing. Touch the skin only if you must, when you’re washing your face or applying medication. Most importantly, never, under any circumstances, try to peel the scab over a scar. This will reopen the wound and reintroduce bacteria into the skin. Always keep your hands and fingers away.
2. Use the Proper Medication

There are alternative treatments that may really promote healing of acne scars but many of them are still unproven. Worse, some of them are even the result of quackery and misconceptions. If you have a bad case of acne and want to ensure quick healing of your scars, see a doctor. He will be able to make the proper diagnosis of your condition and then prescribe the right medications for you to use. When using anti-acne drugs and medication, make sure to follow the procedures that your doctor recommended. Check if there is a certain dosage you might be asked to take and if there is a specified length of time involved for the treatment. Acne has a tendency to recur if medications are stopped in the middle of a treatment and if your acne scars have already healed, you might have to contend with new ones.

3.	Clean your Wounds
Treat your acne scar as you would any normal wound - with care. Always wash your hands before applying any medications and keep a good regimen of skin cleansing and disinfecting.

4.	Supplement It
Try to keep up with your Vitamin C supplements to help hasten the healing process. Vitamin C is known to contribute to tissue regeneration, to protect the skin and fight infection.

5.	Change your Lifestyle
If certain things or activities contribute to acne break outs, you might want to stay away from them for a while. Smoking, sunbathing or using certain cosmetics often trigger acne. Try to keep your face clear of any irritating products to allow your skin to heal itself. Use makeup only when you absolutely must. Otherwise, keep your face free and clean. Try to get a good amount of sleep every night. The body heals faster if it is well rested.

6.	Learn to Wait
Regardless of what you do to promote healing of acne scars, time is still a factor. Some treatments, for example, take about two to three weeks before any significant improvement is seen. Some treatments may also require prolonged period of time in order to complete. Antibiotics, for example, need to be taken 6 to 12 weeks before you can complete a treatment course.
7.	Dealing with Pigmentation

Once your acne scars have healed, you sometimes have to deal with some pigmentation. There are certain medications that can help fade these spots and prevent them from reappearing. Provided that you ensured proper healing of acne scars, hopefully pigmentation is the only problem you’ll have to deal with. Flor Serquina is a writer and also a wife and a mother who has a great interest in maintaining the healthy skin of the members of her large family. For more information visit her website, where she discusses various subjects such as acne scar healing, acne scar products and acne scar reduction. The site features well-researched articles on the different types of acne, their causes and their treatment. There are reviews of the varied approaches to acne, including laser surgery for acne scars, home remedies, different brands of acne soaps and face wash, over-the-counter acne medications as well prescription medicines.

Sensitive skin reacts easily to ingredients and allergens that may be in detergents, skincare products, or makeup, rough textures, harsh temperatures, and pressure on the skin’s surface. Red, itchy, blotchy, dry, tight, acne prone, flaky, stinging, and burning skin are all symptoms of a sensitive skin reaction. These reactions aggravate and inflame any existing acne pimples and cause further acne breakouts by increasing oil production and clogging pores. To successfully clear acne on sensitive skin and prevent new blemishes, care should be taken to completely avoid skin irritants of any kind.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose gentle products labeled for sensitive skin that contain less irritants than products labeled for normal or oily skin. Skincare products should indicate that they are not scrubs, non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, dye and fragrance free, and hypoallergenic. Another good ingredient to look for in sensitive skin products is Aloe. Aloe has soothing and healing properties that will help to calm sensitive skin.

Step 2

Wash your face twice a day and no more. It is not good to wash too often. Excessive use of cleansers and water on your face can upset your skin’s PH balance and cause dryness and irritation, especially on extra sensitive skin. Do not use washcloths to wash your sensitive face. The texture of the washcloth will cause redness and irritation. Use your hands to gently apply the cleanser and splash off the cleanser. Make sure you remove all traces of cleanser. To clear acne and prevent more pimples from forming, you want clean skin with no cleanser residue. A good non-drying facial cleanser for sensitive skin is Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin.

Step 3

Moisturize twice daily to repair and calm sensitive skin and to replace moisture lost from cleansing or environmental exposure. Moisturizing will also reduce acne inflammation and change the texture of your skin. A heavier cream will moisturize much better than a light, thin lotion. A good moisturizer for sensitive skin is Olay Moisturizing Cream Sensitive Skin. To save money, choose the cream without spf. This will allow you to use the same jar of cream for both day and night. It is a cream, but it is very light and rubs in completely with no heaviness or stickiness.

Step 4

Never use acne medication with maximum strength acne medication, such as 2% salicylic acid or 10% benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are too irritating and harsh for sensitive skin, causing redness, dryness, burning, and stinging. A good acne fighting medication is Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment Cream with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. It is just as effective as the 5% or 10% benzoyl peroxide at drying up existing pimples, exfoliating the skin’s surface, and keeping pores from becoming clogged, but without the irritation. Gently apply a thin layer of this twice a day after cleansing and before moisturizing to clear acne.

Step 5

Choose natural skincare products when possible. Natural products have not been altered in any way to contain harsh, allergy causing chemicals or synthetic fragrances. Witch Hazel is a good natural product to use as a skin toner and to remove any makeup left over from cleansing. It treats dry and itchy skin associated with sensitive skin and also dramatically reduces the size of pores, making them less likely to become clogged. Apply Witch Hazel with a cotton ball as often as needed to reduce oil, and leave skin feeling cool, clean, and refreshed.

The doctor can prescribe iether a topical that keeps pores open and prevents inflammation.
If you’re still not seeing a response or if the acne is more severe, an oral antibiotic works well. However as this type of acne can be very persistent, hormonal agents can be very effective and a safer option.

Excess weight

Adult men who have excess body weight can be more prone to acne.

Surplus fat can convert the female hormone (oestrogen) into hormones that behave like male hormones (androgens) and promotes acne through various ways including increasing the production and composition of sebum (natural oil that prevents skin from drying out)

Extra sebum mixed with dead skin cells clogs pores. Inflamed or irritated pores contribute to formation of whiteheads or blackheads that turn into pimples.

I want to say that anyone can cure acne. That includes also you. No matter what you tried before or how bad acne you have, YOU can get clear. Acne is totally curable condition.

You have been doing wrong things anytime. That’s why nothing has worked. Once you know what acne is all about getting clear is pretty simple.

Here comes the confusing part.

There’s no ‘cure’ for acne. Anyone who says they can cure your acne don’t know what they are talking about. ‘Curing’ acne is impossible.

Saying you can cure acne is like saying you can cure obesity. It simply doesn’t make sense. Overweight, like acne, is a condition your body is in. It’s not a disease or a medical condition.

You can’t cure acne, but you can take action to bring your body back to a healthier condition. When you do that your acne clears up.

SIDENOTE: Before you object that you’ve tried it, or that you already eat healthy or are healthy and it doesn’t work for you. Hear me out. This works for everybody. It is physiologically impossible to have acne when your body is in a healthy state. Most people just go about this wrong way and don’t see results.

This little shift in thinking is critically important if you want to cure acne permanently. Please don’t just brush it off. Once you accept this you stop looking for quick and easy fixes (pills and creams) and go after the real solutions. The solutions that can set you free for life.

Cure acne by eliminating the cause

In other words correct the imbalances and bring your body back to a healthier state.

Now I’m going to say something you don’t want to hear.

This is the only way to cure acne permanently.

If you want permanently clear skin and be certain your acne never comes back, you absolutely must do this.

You simply have no other choices.

I know this is not something you wanted to hear. You probably wanted me to give you a simple and easy solution. But might I suggest this is something you need to hear.

You have already tried the quick and easy solutions. The chances are you have wasted years with them. Still you are here.

Wouldn’t it be time to try something else for a change? Something that works.

By fixing the cause you return your body to a state where it’s no longer sensitive to triggers. You don’t have to live in constant fear of getting pimples. You’ve taken care of acne and that’s the end of the story.

During my career as a nurse registered, I learned a lot over the years about acne, acne scars, and acne treatments. Almost 100% of people between the ages of eleven and seventeen have at least occasional breakouts of whiteheads, blackheads or a pimples, now and then. Natural treatment methods are always a better choice for acne due to less exposure to drugs and chemical-laden acne products.

For most people, acne goes away by age 20 above, but people in their 40 above still get acne. Baby acne is a rash seen on the cheeks and forehead of infants. Acne is most common in teenagers and young adults. There are several different types of acne. Nearly 70 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back.

Acne, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and many other skin disorders are usually, but not always, the result of a bad diet. I think the cause of acne is related to our Standard American Diet (SAD) and that would also influence all our hormones.

One helpful remedy seems to be to use ice to reduce the swelling caused by inflamed pimples: rub it over the blemishes for 2-3 minutes. If you’re going to buy acne products, it’s much more worth your while to buy acne-treating products that work against current pimples and that also fight against the occurrence of new ones. Coconut is one of the best treatments I’ve found for acne.

Skin care acne treatment is one of most importatn in misunderstood topics there is when it comes to acne skin care. Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar it will work better on your skin if it isn’t already noticeble irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment.

Coconut oil is very inexpensive, therefore, a good, cheap home remedy. Never underestimate the healing, restorative power of a good night’s sleep.

Acne scars result from increased tissue formation, response to the inflammation of acne and loss of tissue. Whether acne scarring is deep or superficial, extensive or scattered, the end result can be less than desirable and even disturbing. The type and depth of acne scars influences the choice of treatment.

People with skin proble such as acne and psoriasis often suffer from constipation. When you change your diet, your lesions should be getting better within 30 days above. Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne.

There are lot of skin conditions can be converted into healthy skin using natural home remedies. The skin is subject to constant attack from without, so can be affected by numerous conditions, diseases and ailments.

With cheap, safe, simple, natural, effective, alternative home treatments for acne and pimples, your skin should be well on its way to recovery. Analyze all the acne treatments available and make the best decision for you, based on your circumstances. Pick 2-3 home remedies or natural treatments and try them out on your skin carefully.

The adult acne and juvenile acne involves many infections generated by the same virus, skin weather can be very different requiring different forms of treatment. Adult onset acne that begins in the adult years usually involves normal or combination of skin or even dry and sensitive skin, rather than the oily skin that is typical of juvenile acne. However, are developed for juvenile acne and contains high concentrations of benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and other agents that can be excess drying and potentially irritating to adult skin. Adult skin may not tolerate persistent use of these agents and skin sensitive may become problematic.

Acne infections can stimulate skin production of hydrogen peroxide which generates volumes of free radicals. The chemical rebuilding that involved in healing infections and repairing the skin damage caused by infections, also generates volumes of free radicals. In this acne causes premature aging of the skin, just like the volumes
of free radicals caused by sun exposure. Control of acne is important to the appearance of the skin today, it is very important strategy to prevent the premature aging of the skin.
If the skin damage has already become a problem. Damage is determined by the concentration of benzoyl peroxide and the frequency of use. It has also been associated with increased risks of skin cancer. In 1995 the FDA issued warnings regarding the use of benzoyl peroxide and changed its status from safe to uncertain.

Causes of Adult Acne

There are a number of factors that may initiate adult acne. Stress can be a major factor, via the production of cortisol, a steroidal hormone that promotes acne. Coffee consumption, like stress, promotes the production of cortisol. Other issues may be involved, such as smoking, low consumption of free fatty acids, hormone supplement, etc. Achieve control of adult acne with Skintactix products and reduce those factors that may promote a recurrence of acne. (See the Acne Tips page for additional information on factors that promote acne.)

If follicle congestion, whiteheads and/or blackheads are involved refer to the page on Acne & Essential Fatty Acids as this could be a factor in the development of adult onset acne.
